Stay On Course

Text: 2 timothy 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

  • Nobody stays on course by accident.
  • There are things that Christians do during the course of a Christian life to ensure they don't get distracted.
  • In order to stay on course you got to fight.
    • Nobody accomplishes anything if they don't have some fight in them.
  •  As long as you can keep getting up and keep fighting, you will be able to stay on course.
  • Don't ever stop fighting! Keep fighting in spite of the way you feel.
    • If you can just be the person who you are, then God can use you.
  • The church isn't full of righteous people. It is full of sinful people who, while they may fall down, they don't stay down. Because God lives inside of them, they get up and fight anyway.
  • Fight no matter what. The people that love you will pray for you, the people that talk about you? Don't worry about them anyway.
  • It's not the size of the dog that determines the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
    • You don't know what people are made of, until you push them.
Philippians 3:12-14 -
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
  • Every person has a purpose that only "you" can accomplish. Your job is to find out what that purpose is and then get it done.
  • Learn how to move past hurts, disappointments, past frustrations and fear, past discouragement.
  • You can't drive a vehicle forward while looking in your rearview mirror.
  • You have to decide that you are going to press on.
  • What are you reaching for today?
  • The only way to press towards the mark is to forget the things that are behind.
  • When you allow yourself to relive a past situation over and over, it's like having a body attached to you that is robbing you of everything that you need to live.
    • If you run from your past, as soon as something reminds you of a situation you came out of, you will run again.
  • What do you do when the devil attacks you? You keep doing what you were doing to get him to attack you in the first place!
